Ladies and Gentlemen... Introducing... Soul Brown
A fresh face to put to the classic sounds of Pop, Soul and Rock and Roll! Soul Brown is a 23 year old singer/songwriter with a velvet voice and silky shoulders who will have you grooving along in no time!
Born in Auckland to Samoan parents, Soul Brown has a refreshing sound that infuses digital and organic sounds to revive real, feel good music. He also has a passion for song writing, a pleasure he developed while still in Auckland’s Sacred Heart College, joining a rich history of great NZ songwriters.
In 2009, Soul appeared alongside his mother on her debut single “Good enough” to lend his skills as a rap artist. Later in 2010, Soul was back in studio with West Auckland producer D1 to record his first single “Don’t sweat it” – a reggae track he had written while in hospital for a bone transplant. Soul continued to write and perform, striving to empower youth and others by performing for Canteen and SIOP – International Society of Paediatric Oncology along with numerous other community groups and events. Soul was back in the studio in 2013 with producer Emmanuel Ensink to record two singles – “Don’t tell me you love me and Be my baby” where he also introduced his younger sister Ianetta. In 2014, he connected with Wellington producer Marino Mariner to work on a 4-track EP, four songs with a refreshing sound and tasteful lyrics.
Soul Brown will release “Keep that loving coming” on December 1 2015
In July 2015, Soul experimented with a new sound and recorded with Emmanuel Ensink, a country ballad titled “My only” – a song about national pride for Samoa with the message to always remember `home’ wherever you base yourself in the world.
2016 will be an exciting year for Soul Brown with new releases and performances, so keep an eye and ear out for more from Soul!
